Wednesday, March 24, 2010: Elke’s Dorf.

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 (Sandra)
In preparation for a few days at Elke’s home, we visited Onkel Manfred’s favorite green house for a thank you gift, and saw beautiful arrangements of pansies, primroses, bonsai trees, and many other plants. We then drove to Elke’s dorf, a nearly one-hour drive, and thoroughly enjoyed the lovely landscapes. Elke had lunch ready for us – pasta and a tasty ‘schnellpanne’ with a cream sauce, and a refreshing carrot/apple salad. She is a fantastic cook! We enjoyed a wander through her garden which has Onkel Manfred’s signature all over it ☺ Together, we went for a walk out of the town. ‘Kick the stone’ was a fun game for all of us as we walked along the country road. We came upon a dairy farm. We saw cute calves, long cow tongues and the slow-moving poop removal mechanism. We each had some ‘self time’, and I finished reading the English book, Falling Leaves, that Onkel Manfred lent me. We ended the day playing Memory and Jenga.
