Dec 30, 2009 Weisbaden Forest, Vegie Markt, and Piano concert

Dec 30, 2009 (Sandra): This day has been filled with more highlights: a walk in the forest in Weisbaden and presenting a piano (Klavier) concert for Tante Karin - her 66th birthday. A forest (Wald) walk provided a surprise of a mini-adrenalin tree-climbing sport. It was in-active since it is cold and wet. We enjoyed the 'slidewalk' :). We came across a golden-domed Russian orthodox chapel, built by her husband, the Baron Nassau (1580's) commemorating a young woman (Russian Princess "Elizabeth) and infant who died during child birth many years ago. Next, we enjoyed the mid-week Weisbaden vegie (Gemuse) market, and saw a variety of vegies, fruits, cheeses, breads, sausages, etc. Lecker! We purchased soft dates and figs - absolutely delicious! During the afternoon, Karannina, Alexander and I presented a piano concert for Tante Karin. This took place in a home of Tante Karin and Onkel Klaus's neighbour. Two duets, and 2 single music pieces each by Karannina and Alexander and a pleasant time of tea and cookies completed the birthday concert for Tante Karin. She thoroughly enjoyed it.
